Today I was very busy…

BUT very unproductive!

I thought I was being productive until I looked at what I had done for the day..

After reading Steven Pressfield’s books, The War of Art and Do The Work, I realized I spent a LOAD of time researching and no time shipping!

I know why…

For me, it’s easy to read. I love it! I’ve died and gone to heaven in any bookstore.

However, assimilating what I have learned into blog posts, articles or info products is a whole different thought process. For me it’s quite unfamiliar.

SO

I get busy!

And not in the good way.

Today I updated the theme on this blog ( & still don’t like it 100%), finally worked out how to add my Facebook fan page, looked on Fiverr for a graphic designer to create my header, researched Thesis themes and generally wasted loads of time!

What did I learn? I must outsource

What did I achieve? After an intense amount of frustration ( as I have minimal technical skills!), I shipped nothing!!!!!

Like all the good books ask you:

‘What is your time worth?’

I know, I think that I can learn how to do X and save some money and finding someone to do it BUT how much is it costing me in terms of my time, increased stress levels and being very unproductive?

AND if you do ‘busy’ as well as I have been

The real question is

What are you really avoiding by being so busy and unproductive?

Starting a project?
Finishing a project?
Focus?
Commitment?

So what I will be asking myself going forward is

Is this activity going to directly contribute to achieving my goals OR is it just so I feel like I’ve been busy for the day?

Please share your productivity strategies and how you recognize when you are being unproductively busy.

P.S. I finally worked out how to post from my iPhone. I now have to work out how to link to this from Twitter and Facebook on my iPhone. Think I will walk to the computer and save myself an hour..
